i had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of lil baby chickens the other week. i have shot a ton of chicken assignments since i've been here. some about the chickens, some about their waste, and some about the farmers. this was my first baby chick assignment, and they were SO adorable! most of the time i leave the bird assignments unable to consume chicken for weeks, and i have grown to have a strong dislike for chicken meat over the past couple years. luckily i was able to enjoy this, bio-suit and all, because these baby birds weren't for eating. these are the baby birds that are going to be bred and make the birds you'll eat. these are the creme de la creme of chicken lineage. they were yellow, fluffy and only a few hours old. reminded me of easter---damn marketing.
this was the first time i saw chicken in ar-kansas and didn't want to puke.

mmmmm. little bite-sized chickens. just pop em in your mouth. :-)
you should try and milk that great access you have. in alabama i tried to get access to the purdue chicken farms but there was no way to get in at all. there are a lot of interesting stories involving migrant labor and working conditions in those plants...
